Reflections of His Love, sample poem and commentary
REFLECTIONS OF HIS LOVE
His leaving His throne in glory,
His leaving His Father in heaven above...
His dying for sinners like you and me,
...all reflections of His precious love.
Coming to earth to suffer such shame,
At the hands of such cruel men...
All because of love ...He came,
And died to pay for our sin.
The innocent Lamb of God,
He came to pay the price...
He came to shed His blood,
And to be our sacrifice.
No matter where we've been,
No matter where we go...
No mountains ever too high,
No valley's ever too low.
...for the love of Christ our Savior,
To reach out and touch us there...
For His outstretched arms to surround us,
With his tender love and care.
The ever flowing fountain,
That's flowing deep and wide...
With reflections of His love,
In the flowing crimson tide.
The fountain that flows,
With our Savior's precious love...
To the hearts of all His children,
From His throne in heaven above.
REFLECTIONS OF HIS LOVE
Reflections of His Love is one of the first poems I wrote back when we lived in East, Texas. I have always been so amazed that a King would come and die for the likes of me, and I believe that is why the Lord gave me this poem.
When you think of what our precious Savior went through for us on the cross and yet we take it for granted. And even though we take Him and His sacrifice for granted He never turns His back on us. He remains faithful to us even when we are not faithful to Him. How do you comprehend such love? The love of our Savior is reflected in everything He does for us: from His sacrifice on the cross, the example He set for us to follow, to the way He continues to provide for all of our needs.
We in turn should have the desire to be reflections of His love to the world and the only way to do that is to die to self and let Him live and minister to the world through us. Saint of God, what a privilege we have been given, to be called children of God.
Jesus, willingly shed His blood for us, if it ever came down to it, would we be willing to do thesame for Him? I hope so. And yet, all He really asks us to do, is to LIVE FOR HIM. Hallelujah!
May the Lord Bless and Keep you!
Read Matthew chapter 20 and then focus on verse 28.
....Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
